Digital forensic services scoped for litigation

Each service line below answers a different question about the same underlying problem: what the digital record actually shows, and whether it will hold when the other side tests it. Every one of them ends in the same place — a written opinion, its basis, and its limits, capable of being re-examined by an opposing expert.

IN SHORT

Law & Forensics provides digital forensic examination and expert testimony to counsel: computer, server, and cloud forensics; deepfake and media authentication; source code review; and retention as a testifying, consulting, or neutral expert. Engagements begin with a conflicts check and a scoping call.

01FORENSIC SERVICE LINES

Covered on the firm’s other sites

Two practice areas have their own dedicated sites rather than a page here. They are part of the same firm and the same bench; the treatment is simply deeper where it lives.

  • Mobile Device Forensics

Logical and physical extraction across iOS and Android — messages, location, app data, and deleted artifacts. Covered in depth on the firm's dedicated mobile forensics site.

  • Computer Forensics in New York

Engagements run out of the firm's New York office, including on-site acquisition in the New York metropolitan area. Covered on the firm's New York practice site.

Beyond these, the firm also takes engagements in Internet of Things and industrial-systems forensics, social media preservation and authentication, and end-to-end forensic investigations into intrusion, insider misconduct, fraud, and IP theft. Those are summarised on the homepage service lines and are scoped on the call rather than described at length here.

How an engagement starts

The same way for every service line. Send the matter name, the court or tribunal, the trial or discovery deadline, a description of the digital evidence, and the parties for a conflicts check. A conflicts check and scoping call follow, normally within one business day. Please do not send privileged or case-sensitive material until conflicts have cleared.

Two guides cover the decisions that come before the engagement letter: how to hire and vet a digital forensic expert witness, including the difference between testifying, consulting, and court-appointed roles, and how Daubert and Rule 702 apply to digital evidence after the December 2023 amendment.

ENGAGE AN EXPERT

If you are not sure which service line the matter needs, that is a normal starting point — it is what the scoping call is for.

Attorney advertising / expert services. This page describes forensic practice and the procedural rules that govern expert evidence in general terms. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for checking the rules, standing orders, and case law of your own forum. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
